This is our second annual female-led volume of [EDIT] and it is a very special issue. You will meet Geneviève Nolet, founder of Usva Spa, widely regarded as one of the finest spa experiences in Canada. You also meet Marsha Doiron of PEI Preserve Company, whose story is deeply personal. In 2022, she and her partner nervously and excitedly became the new owners of one of Prince Edward Island’s most beloved destinations.

Music and culture take centre stage as Jennifer Wood meets musical powerhouse Jenn Grant to discuss her latest album and accompanying tour. Our new Halifax correspondent, Jessica Wight, immerses herself in Mystic restaurant’s extraordinary new dining experience, where first-rate cuisine meets the Atlantic in real time, with tuna caught in the harbour and prepared before your eyes.

Food and heritage are powerfully explored through Fatou Sarr Sedore, who invites us into the Senegalese culinary legacies she is preserving and sharing, and through a visit to one of the most exciting wagyu-beef farms in the region, owned and operated by Jess Frenette.

You meet Aynsley Coates, one of the finest family photographers in the country, whose work captures connection, intimacy and truth in ways that stop you in your tracks. We also introduce you to Shannon Dykens and Amanda Evans, the founders of one of the most exciting new independent bookstores anywhere, The Write Cup Bookstore Cafe, and we meet female soccer players who are changing the face of the game in the Maritimes and far beyond.

Taken together, these stories are a snapshot of excellence. They are a reminder that leadership, creativity and innovation in Atlantic Canada are thriving, often led by women who are doing the work quietly, collaboratively and brilliantly. This special issue is an invitation. A seat at the table, where we belong. Thank you for joining us.
