FIRST ANNUAL ART + DESIGN SPECIAL!
For almost a decade, [EDIT] has been dedicated to celebrating the unique people and places of Atlantic Canada. With this new issue, we are proud to present a historic first: an edition devoted entirely to art and design.
This special issue feels both timely and essential, a testament to the idea that exceptional design knows no bounds. It's bursting with artistic talent, from New Brunswick's Dooryard Arts Festival in Woodstock and the Día de los Muertos festival in Saint John, to the incredibly talented Wolastoq traditional dancer and singer Bronson Acquin-Mandisodza and the vibrant work of abstract artist Jared Betts.
Inside, Beaverbrook Art Gallery CEO Bernard Doucet shares his vision for bringing art to the masses through the gallery, an architectural marvel in itself. Our first-ever "podcast-in-print" features an interview with singer-songwriter Christina Martin, conducted by the award-winning podcast duo Mike and Kristen, who delve into her remarkable life and career. We're also thrilled to introduce our new "Foundations" section, celebrating the most influential people, buildings, and interiors across the East Coast.
On the cover, we showcase where remarkable architecture meets the earth's edge at Ridge on the Chimney. High above the rugged west coast cliffs of Cape Breton, you'll find a striking collection of rental cottages designed by MacKay-Lyons Sweetapple Architects. These cottages are not just architectural gems and soulful escapes; they offer a true sense of belonging.
Also in this bumper issue:
* Thandiwe McCarthy meets Bronson Acquin-Mandisodza
* River Mullinger reviews the best new children's books and highlights essential festivals, exhibitions, and literature of the season.
* James Mullinger on Chandler Sales' New Miller Knoll Showroom
